Sometimes having hotter sex is as simple as a change of scene – and a few steamy new positions to try in said space. One location that tends to be less utilised by lovemakers? The bathroom. Sure, there\’s no shortage of shower sex that can be had here. But what about using the bathroom sink or top of the toilet to your advantage? Or getting it done in an empty public bathroom when the mood strikes while the two of you are still out?
With a little creativity (and some discretion), the bathroom can become the scene of your next steamy shag session. Not to mention, once the two of you are done, the clean up is more than convenient. We asked a few experts (and some real women who regularly get it on in the bathroom) for their best tips, advice and sex positions for using any bathroom to it\’s full fornication potential. Read on for the best bathroom sex positions.
1. Sex In Public Toilets
It has the potential to get a little gross depending on the venue, but sex in a public bathroom gets the job done – especially if you\’re not ready to call it a night just yet. Of course, you\’ll want to do whatever you can to be discreet while you\’re doing it – and of course, not get caught. For you less risky risk takers, know that sex in a public bar or club toiletwill likely just get you kicked out of the place rather than arrested.
Why? The chances of the staff detaining you and drawing police to their venue in order to press charges are pretty much slim to none, since the police showing up to a bar can kill the vibe faster than a guy whipping out his guitar at a house party. But you may want to choose a place that you\’re not particularly attached to when you\’re looking to pull this one off, just in case you do end up getting banned for life.
“If you’re in public, aim for a unisex bathroom that won’t draw as much attention when either of you slip in,” says Lorraine White, cofounder of Unbound. Bonus points if you\’re doing it in one of those unisex bathrooms that have high walls and doors rather than stalls. “A commodious single capacity room with in-room sink is ideal,” says White. “Otherwise, aim for the handicap stall (which is usually at the end of a row and less likely to be noticed).”
If you two have your hearts set on bathroom sex on a plane, however, White suggests proceeding with as much caution as possible knowing the legal risks. “The holy grail of bathroom sex may be the elusive mile high club,” she says, “but if you’re caught you risk getting slapped with anything from indecent exposure charges to possible jail time if you’re deemed to have interfered with the flight crew.”
“While that may add to the thrill, I don’t think it’s really worth it for the privilege of hooking up in a glorified airborne port-a-potty. Whether it’s the bathroom on an airplane, in a restaurant, bar or concert venue, make sure that when you’re having semi-public sex you keep it quick (skip the foreplay) and quiet (save the loud moans for back home).”
What Real Women Say
“My ex and I used to frequent this club in Brooklyn that had coed bathrooms,” says Nicole, 28. “To be fair, there was a security guard that would stand guard outside the bathroom door – which was open with a line of sinks, and then each stall was behind a door that went down to the floor (so we didn\’t have to worry about it looking obvious that two people were in there). We got it down to a science: I\’d go in first, pick the stall (as far back as I could go) and he\’d watch me go in.
“Then he\’d come in a few minutes later and we\’d do it doggy style standing up, with me holding on to the top of the toilet tank to keep the balance. The only time we ever came close to getting caught was when my ex had one too many one night, and couldn\’t remember which stall I was in. He was trying to get into one that was occupied by someone else who wouldn\’t let him in, and the security guard saw he was drunk and trying to do so and guided him to another empty stall. But he found me eventually!”
2. Public Toilet Positions
There are obvious cons that come with doing it in a public setting vs. your bathroom at home – space, discretion and overall cleanliness being a few big ones. To help avoid these pitfalls, White recommends choosing a sturdy sex position. “Bathrooms can get slippery, so make sure you choose positions that allow you to gain sufficient purchase to grind safely without taking a spill” she says. Here are a few options to consider.
Toilet Seat Tango
“If you’re in a stall, flip the toilet seat down and have your partner place one leg up on top of it while bracing her hands on the wall,” says White. “Hold your partner at the waist while entering her from behind.” Not only does this position get the job done in a tight space, but the angle provides extra pleasure for both of you. “Her raised leg will allow for deeper penetration,” says White, “and better stimulation of the G-spot.”
Sinking It In
“If you’re in a single-capacity bathroom with a sink (make sure it\’s a freestanding or secured sink that can support her weight), have her hop up so that her legs are conveniently at waist-level,” says White. “Have her brace herself on the edge so that she can lower herself onto you in a kind of vertical cowgirl position. Have her wrap her legs around you for added stability and deeper penetration.” Want to manoeuvre things to get a little deeper? White says to make sure the faucet won\’t become a problem first. “If you want to have her lean back to try a different angle, make sure to roll a nearby hand towel up and place it behind her to prevent a faucet from jutting into her lower back.”
The Water Fountain
If a solid oral sex position is what you\’re after, sexologist Dr. Megan Stubbs recommends trying this one – if you\’re able to secure a semi-private bathroom that isn\’t a stall set-up. “If you find yourself in a full bathroom with a counter and sink, feel free to put your partner on the counter facing you (make sure it isn\’t wet first!),” she says. “This is a great position for oral. Put some paper towel on the ground to kneel on and enjoy. Just don\’t let your partner slip into the sink!”
What Real Women Say
“My go-to public bathroom sex position is always standing doggy style,” says Vanessa, 24. “It just seems like a no-brainer no matter what type of space or setup you\’re working with. If we\’re doing it in a stall-type of setup where we don\’t want our legs to be the giveaway, I\’ll shut the toilet seat cover and get on my knees on top of it in order to make it look less conspicuous.”
3. Sex In Your Own Bathroom
Sure, you lose the thrill of potentially getting caught when you\’re just doing the dirty in your own bathroom at home. But at-home bathroom sex means that time is on your side, and opens you up to being able to experiment with new positions, and even have time for some foreplay. Also, you\’re dealing with a much cleaner, more pleasant set-up. Here are a few sex positions to try in the comfort of your own bathroom – not counting shower sex, which is a whole different animal.
Steam Room Spread Eagle
It\’s the same spread eagle position you love doing when you\’re lying down, taken upright on your bathroom\’s elevated surfaces. “Your partner sits on the counter or sink, and you stand between her legs,” says Dr. Jess O\’Reilly, Astroglide\’s resident sexologist. “The seated partner lifts her legs so her ankles rest on her partner’s shoulders (or on her sides if flexibility is more limited). The standing partner thrusts while the seated partner grinds, rocks and uses their legs to guide the rhythm.”
Sinkside Doggy Style
Sex near a mirror that allows the two of you to watch your lovemaking from angles you wouldn\’t be able to see otherwise immediately heightens the experience. And even if you\’ve been lazy about decorating your place, it\’s more than likely that your bathroom has at least one mirror you\’ll be able to leverage here. “Take advantage of the mirror’s visual appeal and bend her over,” says Dr. O\’Reilly, “using the sink or counter to hold herself up with her hands. Slide in from behind, and you both get to enjoy the view.”
Toilet Seat Rodeo
Use the toilet seat to your advantage by sitting down on top of it, and having your partner sit down on top of you. “Close the lid and have one partner sit on the toilet,” says Dr. O\’Reilly. “The other sits atop facing away and pops, grinds, rocks and to their heart’s content.”
What Real Women Say
“Our bathroom has a large vanity table with a big mirror,” says Polly, 31. “My husband likes for me to hop up on it and get on all fours, hanging my rear over the edge slightly so that he can do me doggy style from behind. This would probably be tough if we didn\’t have the vanity or the space, but I\’d recommend recreating it if you have a sink countertop that\’s long enough to use in order to pull it off.”
“Our shower is right next to the toilet in our apartment,” says MacKayla, 26, “and our shower head is one of those set ups where you can take it off the wall. This got really messy, but there was one time I was sitting on top of the toilet, and my boyfriend was seated on the top of the closed toilet seat eating me out. On a whim he grabbed the shower head, turned it on, and started gently massaging my clit with it. We had to use every towel we owned to soak things up after it was over – but my god, it was so worth it.”
